SUBJECT: Payment Options for the Print Lab
Through student interactions, discussions and personal experience the inefficiency of the Print Lab process has become overtly obvious. The only option for paying for prints is with a student ID, containing money in a printing account. However, there are only two machines in the school which allow money to be added to an account and neither are in the print lab (D Building). There is one in the library (E Building) and one in the basement computer lab (C Building).
As like most offices at FIT it takes multiple trips to accomplish a task. But in this case it can mean leaving campus entirely to obtain cash, to then go to a machine to deposit the cash, and finally to return to the lab to pay for your prints. This becomes the process whether you are ordering one black and white 8X10 print out or an InkJet color eight foot banner.
Small steps can be taken to alleviate some of the stress from this process. The most simple solution would be placing a printing account deposit machine in the print lab. Additionally accepting cash or credit cards as payment would also be helpful.
